What is Forte Music education pedagogy?
Forte School of Music launched in 1994 and developed it's own pedagogy method for teaching music. We specialise in early childhood music education and generations of young children have grown up learning music at Forte.
We are thrilled to be old enough to have may students who learnt at Forte now teaching for us along with parents who were once Forte students themselves bringing their child to us!
The Forte method is a comprehensive music education system and combines & incorporates the very best in music educational philosophies and pedagogy as seen in other world renowned systems (see the Forte Philosophy)

Advantages of learning in a group environment...
Whilst learning in a small group may be still a very new phenomenon to most, it is this unique environment along with our philosophy which has so many advantages over traditional private lessons:
- learning as a team means you're making friends at music - so learning piano doesn't become a solitary experience - see how the children are really having fun. As piano teachers we are constantly battling against all the other things children do: ballet, sport, drama, computer games, etc. The class environment means children are more likely to be engaged and having fun.
- aural development is achieved through singing. Singing is a lot easier to achieve in class setting. In a one on one experience it is sometimes very difficult to get children, especially boys, to sing.
- involving the parents means mums and dads are involved and committed to their children's education. Each week students are rewarded for practising 6 or 7 days. Parents are the ones that make this happen and when they are involved they are able to help make this happen.
- when children start in Forte's Jungle Music program from 6 months, by the time they are 6 years old, their musical abilities are quite amazing. It is the immersion in quality music education from a young age that lays the ground work for the future making it seamless.
- children who learn in a class environment (from little ones) are set up for school. They know how to listen and follow directions. They know how to share, take turns and learn in a social situation.
- Performance confidence is built one stepping stone at a time. Every couple of weeks children are ready to play a solo in front of the whole class.
- Ensemble performance means children learn how to play as a group; listening, singing, reading and playing cohesively in time with the music - important skill for playing in the school band in the future.
